Another new Whole30 experience–a baby shower! No, crazy person, not for me.

A co-worker of mine who is a soon-to-be mom, follows a Whole30-like diet because of an inflammatory illness. We enjoy sharing recipes and healthy ideas and so when we decided to celebrate at work, I was excited to help plan and prepare food for the party.

Another health-conscious co-worker and I sat down to develop the menu and I was happy that I could share so many recipes and ideas. Of course, we were a little nervous to see how the other co-workers would react to our menu choices. We decided to email the menu out to everyone and invite them to bring their very favorite shower food if they just couldn’t live without it. 😉

And, just because, we ordered a cake from the bakery.

I guess it’s easy for me to say the food was a great success. But it’s really true, The mom- and dad- to be were so grateful that we had prepared food that they could enjoy. Several health conscious co-workers thanked us for planning a meal that they could “feel good about eating.” And even the most skeptical of the pack found something to munch on.

As we ate, the room seemed to be filled with sounds of pleasant surprise, as if to say “No shit! This doesn’t suck!” On a rare occasion, people even asked me for recipes.

113 days later, I’m pretty used to bringing my lunch, but it was nice to actually eat the same thing as my co-workers.

And believe it or not, the award for most left over, goes to the bakery cake.

Here was our menu:

  2. I’m totally doing this workout this weekend when I have time! I love this! What’s a Zotts Press??

    How were the muffins?! 🙂

    • Hi! Great to hear from you! The muffins were awesome! The Zotts Press (I think its actually Sotts if you want to Google it-think my coaches spelled it wrong) is like doing a push press in the bottom of a squat. It really helps with mobility and getting under the bar. So, from a bottom of a squat, start with the bar on the back rack. Then, press the bar up above the head–staying in a squat. Hope you like it!
